In honor of Women's History Month and International Women's Day (March 8th, 2019) we wanted to take a moment to introduce driver Joy Olivia Del Rio!
Joy has had life full of different experiences. She started out working for her mothers design company, where they designed, sold and shipped product worldwide. Joy then moved onto a career in sales based in Sedona, AZ.
She has also experienced life in another country. Joy lived in Mexico for three years, less than an hour south of the Arizona border, a few steps from the Sea of Cortez beach. While in Mexico Joy filled her time with charity work. The first year she made Christmas special for one family, year two Joy was able to help nineteen families, by the third year the word had spread about how rewarding her efforts were. Donations would just show up at her home and she was able to provide dinner, gifts and needs to forty-three families.
Illness brought Joy back to the states, but she says her heart will always be in Mexico and the people she helped. Through her many careers and raising a family, (two sons) Joy always wanted to drive a truck. So, onto the next career it was.
Being a driver has given Joy financial security, and she has been able to buy a home in Northern Arizona, what she calls her hobby farm. Joy’s life partner and niece care for the menagerie of animals while she is out having her adventures on the road. Joy currently drives with her husky, Skylar.
One wish Joy has, is she wishes her Dad could see how well she is doing. Mom is very proud.
