This recipe is a great morning energy booster and packed with the superfood chia seeds!
Chia’s health benefits are wide reaching and broad. Enjoy a sweet treat in the morning knowing you’re giving your body all the goodness of antioxidants, minerals, fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, protein, vitamin B1 and B3, zinc, magnesium, iron and the list goes on!
Recipe
Serves 2
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup dairy free milk such as oat or coconut
¼ cup chia seeds
Garnish
To preference – Fresh berries, fruit, whipped topping, Greek yogurt
Instructions
- In a medium size bowl, add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, dairy free milk, and chia seeds. Whisk together until all ingredients are combined.
Tip: Mix the maple syrup, cocoa, and vanilla first making to create a kind of paste. Add the milk/chia last so the cocoa blends much easier with the milk.
- Leave the mixture in the bowl for 15 minutes without stirring, allowing the chia seeds to gel. After 15 minutes, whisk it together again.
- Cover the bowl, place it in the fridge overnight, or at least 4 hours.
- Remove from fridge in the morning and serve with garnish of choice.
